Children under 16 cannot work; those aged 16 or over may work part-time up to 10 hours a week in term time and full-time in holidays.
Children under 16 are usually granted the course length up to 6 years plus 4 months; those aged 16 or 17 up to 3 years plus 4 months.
Key requirements include a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from a licensed school, proof of parental or guardian consent, and suitable care and accommodation arrangements.
The child must be between 4 and 17 years old and be coming to study at an independent (fee-paying) school in the UK.
At 18 the child must move onto a standard Student visa to keep studying in the UK; they cannot keep extending the Child Student visa as an adult.
A parent can apply for a Parent of a Child Student visa, but only if the child is aged between 4 and 11 and attending an independent school.
