
The main rule is that you must renounce your current nationality, but there are several exceptions where you are allowed to keep it.
Dutch law's starting point for naturalisation is that you give up your existing nationality once you become Dutch. In practice, however, a number of exceptions apply, for example for people married to a Dutch national, recognised refugees, people from countries that do not permit renunciation, and certain others.
Whether you can keep your original nationality depends entirely on which exception applies to you. This is one of the most misunderstood parts of the process, so check your specific case carefully and keep documentation of any exception you rely on.
