How long do I have after graduating to apply for the orientation year permit?

The orientation year is not limited to people who just finished studying. You can apply at any point within three years after obtaining your qualifying degree or completing your qualifying research.

This flexibility means you could, for example, return to your home country first and then come back to the Netherlands within that three-year window to use the orientation year. Once the three years have passed, you can no longer use the qualification that made you eligible, so plan around that deadline.
