Can I change universities in the Netherlands without losing my student permit?

Switching educational institutions during your studies is allowed as long as the new institution is also an IND-recognised sponsor. Your residence permit does not automatically lapse when you move.

The change does have to be reported to the IND: your new institution takes over as your sponsor and both schools have a notification duty. It is important to coordinate the move so there is no gap in sponsorship, since the permit depends on having a recognised institution responsible for you.
