The permit is issued for one year and can be renewed up to three times, for a maximum of four years in total.
The Nomad Residence Permit is initially granted for one year. It can then be renewed, provided you continue to meet the eligibility criteria.
Renewal is capped: the permit can be renewed a maximum of three times, giving a total potential stay of four years. At renewal you must show genuine residence - typically that you lived in Malta for a cumulative period of at least five months over the previous twelve months, evidenced by bank statements showing local transactions.
