Eligible relatives include your spouse, minor children, adult children who are dependent due to serious disability, and in some cases dependent parents.
Italian family reunification focuses on close family. You can typically sponsor a spouse who is at least 18 and not legally separated, and your minor children, whether biological or adopted. Adult children may qualify if they cannot support themselves because of a serious disability.
Dependent parents can also be eligible in certain situations, for example when they have no other children able to support them in their home country. Each relationship must be proved with legalised civil documents such as marriage and birth certificates, so gathering and authenticating these papers is a key part of the process.
