Romania fully permits dual and multiple citizenship, so you do not have to renounce your existing nationality to become Romanian.
Romanian law allows you to hold Romanian citizenship alongside one or more other nationalities. You are not required to give up your original passport when you naturalise or reacquire citizenship.
Keep in mind that your other country of nationality may have its own rules about dual citizenship. Romania permitting it does not override restrictions imposed by your home country, so check both sides before you apply.
For many applicants the ability to keep their original nationality is a key attraction of the Romanian route, since it adds EU citizenship without forcing a difficult choice.
