Qualified E-2 investors and employees get an initial stay of up to two years, with extensions in increments of up to two years and no limit on the number of extensions.
The initial maximum period of admission for an E-2 investor or qualifying employee is two years. As long as the underlying business and your role continue to meet the requirements, you can keep extending.
Requests for extension of stay, or change of status to E-2, may be granted in increments of up to two years each, and there is no cap on how many extensions you can obtain over time. There is, however, an expectation that you intend to depart when your E-2 status ends, since it is a nonimmigrant category. Each time you re-enter the US on a valid E-2 visa, you are typically readmitted for a fresh two-year period.
