Family reunification lets close family members — typically a spouse and dependent children — join a person lawfully resident in Slovakia, subject to housing, income and insurance conditions.
Temporary residence for the purpose of family reunification, under Act No. 404/2011, allows the close family of a third-country national lawfully resident in Slovakia — or of a Slovak or EU national — to come and live with them. It typically covers a spouse and dependent children.
The sponsor needs to hold qualifying residence in Slovakia (or be a Slovak or EU national), and the application must prove the family relationship. You will also show adequate accommodation, sufficient financial means, health insurance and a clean criminal record, along with valid travel documents. The family member's residence is normally linked to the sponsor's status.
Applications are handled by the Bureau of Border and Foreign Police, and getting the relationship evidence and financial documents in order early helps the process run smoothly. Income and housing thresholds can change, so confirm the current requirements before applying — and ACME is glad to help families prepare a complete, well-documented application.
