Temporary residence for business is for non-EU nationals carrying out genuine business activity in Slovakia — for example as a self-employed person or company executive — and is granted for up to three years.
If you plan to run a business in Slovakia rather than work as an employee, temporary residence for the purpose of business is the relevant route under Act No. 404/2011. It suits entrepreneurs, self-employed people and company executives, and it is granted for up to three years — longer than the standard employment permit.
The core of the application is evidence that the business activity is real and properly financed. That usually means a trade licence or a defined company role and business plan, together with sufficient financial resources both to run the business and to support yourself personally. You will also need proof of accommodation, health insurance, a clean criminal record and a valid travel document.
Because the authorities look closely at whether the activity is genuine and viable, getting the company structure and supporting documents right at the outset makes a real difference. Financial-means amounts can change, so check the current figures with the Bureau of Border and Foreign Police, and feel free to talk to ACME about how best to present your business plan.
