Romania introduced a dedicated digital nomad long-stay visa through Law 22/2022. It is for non-EU nationals who are employed by, or who own, a company registered outside Romania and who carry out their work remotely using information and communication technology.
The headline requirement is income: you must show monthly income of at least three times the Romanian average gross monthly salary, evidenced over the required period. You will also need valid private health insurance with the required coverage, proof of accommodation in Romania, and a criminal record certificate. The visa leads to a residence permit issued by IGI.
Because the income threshold is tied to national wage statistics and is updated, it is important to confirm the current figure before applying. ACME can help you check whether your income and remote-work setup qualify and prepare the supporting evidence, and we recommend verifying the current threshold on igi.mai.gov.ro.
