How does Hungarian Card work in Hungary, and who qualifies?

The Hungarian Card is an employment route reserved for specific professional groups rather than general employment. It is open regardless of nationality, but the eligible categories are deliberately narrow — covering minister-specified professions and groups such as professional athletes and coaches, performers, and film-industry workers transferred to or hired by a Hungarian employer.

To qualify you need an employment or transfer agreement with a Hungarian employer and must meet one of the defined professional criteria. As with other routes, you also need proof of accommodation in Hungary, comprehensive health insurance, sufficient financial means and a valid travel document.
