How does Family Reunification Temporary Residence Permit work in Latvia, and who qualifies?

Family reunification in Latvia allows spouses, minor children and eligible relatives to obtain a temporary residence permit on family grounds. The qualifying sponsors are a Latvian citizen, a Latvian non-citizen, or a foreigner who holds a permanent residence permit. The sponsor in Latvia must first obtain PMLP's approval of a formal invitation and takes on legal and financial responsibility for the family member.

To apply you need documentary proof of the family relationship — legalised and translated into Latvian — proof of sufficient means of subsistence, a criminal-record statement where applicable, and, for minors, the consent of the other parent.
