This permit lets family members of a Latvian citizen, Latvian non-citizen, or a foreigner holding a permanent residence permit obtain temporary residence on family grounds. The sponsor must first obtain PMLP's approval of a formal invitation and take on responsibility for the family member.
Family reunification in Latvia allows spouses, minor children and eligible relatives to obtain a temporary residence permit on family grounds. The qualifying sponsors are a Latvian citizen, a Latvian non-citizen, or a foreigner who holds a permanent residence permit. The sponsor in Latvia must first obtain PMLP's approval of a formal invitation and takes on legal and financial responsibility for the family member.
To apply you need documentary proof of the family relationship — legalised and translated into Latvian — proof of sufficient means of subsistence, a criminal-record statement where applicable, and, for minors, the consent of the other parent. Getting the document legalisation and translation right is often where applications slow down.
Because the conditions and the means-of-subsistence level can change, confirm the current position on pmlp.gov.lv before applying. ACME can check whether the sponsor qualifies and help prepare and properly legalise the relationship and financial evidence, and we are happy to offer an initial consultation.
