Latvian language proficiency at A2 level or above is a mandatory condition for EU long-term resident status, evidenced by an official language certification.
If you do not yet hold a certificate, plan time to prepare and sit the state language test before you apply. This is a hard requirement, so do not leave it to the last minute.
