What categories of foreign workers can Romania's employment route cover?

Romania does not treat all foreign workers the same. The employment and posting framework recognises a number of distinct categories, each with its own conditions and document checklist.

These include ordinary permanent employees, seasonal workers, trainees, cross-border workers, highly-qualified workers, posted (deployed) workers, intra-company transferees moving within the same group, and au pairs.

Identifying the correct category early matters, because the required evidence, the type of permit and the rules that follow differ between them. Applying under the wrong category is a common source of delay.
