Yes. Romania is now a full Schengen member — air and sea border controls were lifted in March 2024 and land border controls in January 2025.
Romania joined the Schengen Area in two stages. Internal air and sea border controls were lifted on 31 March 2024, and internal land border controls were lifted on 1 January 2025 following the EU Council decision of December 2024. Romania is therefore now a full Schengen member with no remaining internal border controls. It has also been an EU member state since 2007. This means Schengen short-stay rules apply, and a Romanian residence permit allows travel within the Schengen Area.
