Is there a deadline to apply for family reunification in Switzerland?

Switzerland sets time limits to encourage families to reunite and integrate without long delays. As a general rule you can apply within five years of the right arising.

For older children the window is much shorter: if the child is over 12, you must apply within one year, a rule designed to help them integrate into school and society sooner. Missing the deadline can make reunification much harder, so apply as early as your circumstances allow.
