You must show written skills of at least A2 and spoken skills of at least B1 in the national language of your place of residence.
Language is a formal integration requirement, and the standard distinguishes between written and spoken ability. The minimum is A2 in writing and B1 in speaking on the Common European Framework scale.
The relevant language is the national language spoken where you live (German, French or Italian, depending on the canton). Cantons can require proof through recognised certificates or tests, so check what evidence your canton accepts.
