Can I work in Australia on a Visitor visa?

The subclass 600 does not allow you to work. For the Tourist, Sponsored Family, and Business Visitor streams, work is not permitted, and a mandatory no-work condition is imposed on Tourist and Sponsored Family stream visas.

Business Visitor activities are limited to genuine short business purposes, such as attending meetings, conferences, or negotiations, and do not extend to actually working in or for an Australian business.

If your aim is to work in Australia, even short-term, the Visitor visa is the wrong choice and you should look at an appropriate work visa instead. Breaching the no-work condition can lead to visa cancellation.
