Can I still get the permanent Partner visa (subclass 801) if my relationship ends?

The subclass 801 normally requires an ongoing relationship, but the law provides exceptions. You may still be eligible for the permanent visa if your relationship breaks down, if your sponsoring partner dies, or if you have experienced family violence.

Depending on your circumstances you may need to complete a Notification of Relationship Cessation in ImmiAccount. The Family Violence Provisions are designed so applicants are not trapped in an abusive relationship to protect their visa. All information you provide is treated confidentially, and the Department also recommends online-safety steps such as changing your ImmiAccount and email passwords.
