You must support yourself through employment or your own company, with income high enough to cover housing and living costs, and be able to do so well into the future.
To qualify for permanent residence you must show that you can support yourself financially, both now and for a long time to come. Acceptable income comes from taxed employment wages or profits from a business where you own at least 50% and have real control.
The income must be enough to cover your housing costs and leave roughly the standard living-cost amount each month. Support from a family member, wealth alone, unemployment benefits, scholarships, or subsidised employment are not accepted as the basis for self-support.
