You can include dependent children when you apply, or add a dependent child before the temporary 309 is decided. After grant, a child must first get a Dependent Child visa (subclass 445).
You can include members of your family unit when you lodge the subclass 309 application, and you can add a dependent child after lodgement but before the temporary visa is decided. Family members who apply with you must be outside Australia and meet the health and character requirements.
Once the subclass 309 is granted, you cannot add family members directly. To include a dependent child in the permanent subclass 100 application after grant, the child must first apply for a Dependent Child visa (subclass 445); once they hold it, you complete Form 1002 and notify the Department. If you have a baby after applying, you must let the Department know.
