The permit is tied to the employer who sponsored it, so changing jobs normally requires a new permit application; some categories let you change if you secure new employment within a short window.
A General Employment Permit authorises you to work for the specific employer and role for which it was granted. It is not a free-floating work permit, so you cannot simply switch to a different company while keeping the same permit.
To change employer you generally need a fresh application linked to the new job and the new employer's sponsorship. In some employment categories a worker who leaves a job is expected to secure new qualifying employment within a short period (commonly around one month) to maintain status, otherwise the residence basis lapses. Because the rules differ by category and can change, confirm the current procedure with the Migration Department or the new employer before resigning from your existing position.
