Under the Highly-Qualified and Qualified Employee programmes you generally must stay with the original employer for the first 6 months, while the Key and Scientific Personnel Programme allows changing employers without that restriction.
Employer flexibility varies by programme. Both the Highly-Qualified Employee and Qualified Employee programmes typically expect you to remain with your sponsoring employer for an initial period of about 6 months before changing jobs.
The Key and Scientific Personnel Programme is more flexible and does not impose that same 6-month lock-in. Beyond the programme rules, any change of employer must also follow the standard reporting requirements that apply to your underlying residence permit (such as the employee card), so always report changes to the Ministry of Interior on time.
