Yes. The subclass 143 lets the parent of a settled Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia permanently.
The subclass 143 is a permanent residence visa. Once granted, you can live, work and study in Australia indefinitely.
It differs from the subclass 173 Contributory Parent (Temporary) visa, which lets a parent live in Australia for two years as a stepping stone before moving to the permanent 143.
As a permanent resident you can also access Medicare and, after meeting residence and other requirements, may be eligible to apply for Australian citizenship.
