After five years of continuous residence in Norway you can be granted a permanent right of residence.
After living in Norway for five years on a valid EU/EEA basis, you can be granted a permanent right of residence. This applies to workers, the self-employed and others residing lawfully under the scheme.
Permanent right of residence gives you a more secure status that is less dependent on continuing to meet a specific ground such as employment. It can also be a stepping stone toward Norwegian citizenship for those who later wish to naturalise.
