You can stay for up to 12 months initially and extend up to a 2-year total, but this route does not lead to settlement.
The UK Expansion Worker visa is granted for the shorter of 12 months from your job start date, or the time on your certificate of sponsorship plus 14 days. It is designed for senior or specialist staff setting up a UK branch of an overseas business.
You can apply to extend for another 12 months, up to a maximum of 2 years on this route. Because this is a temporary route, time on it does not count towards settlement, and there is also a wider limit of 5 years in any 6-year period across all Global Business Mobility routes.
