Can a Canadian study permit be longer than my passport's validity?

IRCC will not issue a study permit that extends beyond the expiry date of your passport. If your passport expires partway through your program, your permit will be limited to the passport's validity, even if your program is longer.

This means you should ensure your passport is valid for at least the full length of your intended studies before you apply. If your passport later expires, you would need to renew it and apply to extend your study permit to match your remaining program.
