You must generally be aged 18 to 30 (inclusive) when you apply, although citizens of some countries can apply up to age 35 under their country's arrangement.
The subclass 462 sets an age band that you must fall within at the time you lodge the application, not at the time of travel. For most participating countries the upper limit is 30, but a number of nationalities have a negotiated upper age of 35.
Because the limit is checked on the date you apply, it is worth lodging before a birthday that would push you over the threshold. Check the arrangement that applies to your specific passport country, as the rules differ by nationality.
