The 482 has the Specialist Skills stream, the Core Skills stream and the Labour Agreement stream, each with different eligibility and salary settings.
The Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) replaced the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa from 7 December 2024 and is divided into streams. The Specialist Skills stream targets higher-paid, in-demand roles. The Core Skills stream covers occupations on the core skills occupation list. The Labour Agreement stream is for workers nominated by employers who have a labour agreement with the government.
Which stream you fall into depends on your occupation, salary and how your employer is sponsoring you. Each stream has its own thresholds, so confirm with your sponsoring employer which one applies before lodging.
