Your child in Australia must be a settled Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen and usually acts as your sponsor.
The subclass 143 is for the parent of a child who is settled in Australia. That child must be an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident, or an eligible New Zealand citizen.
'Settled' generally means the child has been lawfully resident in Australia for a reasonable period. The sponsoring child usually needs to have been settled for a defined minimum period before they can sponsor you.
Alongside the sponsorship, an Assurance of Support must also be provided, and the assurer does not have to be the same person as the sponsor.
