The Opportunity Card uses a points system based on qualifications, language skills, work experience, age and ties to Germany, and you generally need at least six points to qualify.
The Chancenkarte points route is for people who do not yet have a fully recognised qualification but still have strong potential. Points are awarded across categories including the recognition status of your qualification, German and English language ability, professional experience, your age, and any previous connection to Germany such as earlier stays.
You normally need a minimum of six points to be eligible under this route, plus a recognised degree or vocational qualification and proof that you can support yourself. If your foreign qualification is already fully recognised in Germany, you can qualify without going through the points test at all.
