
Yes. Applicants under either pilot may be eligible for an optional 2-year work permit, and a spouse or partner can apply for an open work permit limited to the same community.
Both pilots offer an optional temporary work permit so you do not have to wait abroad while your permanent residence application is assessed. If you have applied for PR under the RCIP or FCIP, you may qualify for a work permit valid for up to two years, supported by your job offer and community recommendation.
Your spouse or common-law partner can apply for an open work permit at the same time, but that open permit only allows work in the same community where you are settling. This keeps families together and lets you start working in the community sooner.
