The ETA is available to passport holders from a defined list of eligible countries and regions; it is applied for electronically, often through the Australian ETA app.
The ETA is available only to holders of passports from a specific list of eligible countries and regions. If your passport is not on that list, you would need to look at another visitor visa such as the Visitor visa (subclass 600).
Applications are made electronically, commonly through the Australian ETA app, and the ETA is linked to your passport.
You also need to meet health and character requirements. For example, you must be free from tuberculosis, and you must not have certain criminal convictions, such as sentences totalling 12 months or more.
