Yes. The visa requires genuine residence in Spain, and to renew you generally must show you spent more than half the year (over 183 days) in the country.
The non-lucrative visa is a residence visa, not just a long-stay travel permit, so it expects you to make Spain your real home. At renewal you normally need to prove you were physically present in Spain for more than 183 days in the period.
Spending most of your time outside Spain can jeopardise renewal and the status itself. Note that residing in Spain for the majority of the year may also have tax-residency implications, which you should consider before applying.
