Hungary's EU Blue Card is for highly qualified non-EU professionals with a local job offer and a salary above an annually set threshold. Unlike the standard employment permit, it is open regardless of nationality.
The EU Blue Card is Hungary's route for highly qualified workers, and its big advantage over the standard employment permit is that it is not restricted by nationality or the annual cap. To qualify you generally need an employment contract of at least six months in a highly qualified role, a relevant tertiary qualification (or at least three years' relevant experience for IT specialists and executives), and a gross salary at or above the threshold set each year.
You will also need proof of accommodation in Hungary and comprehensive health insurance. The card is issued for multi-year periods, which gives more stability than shorter permits, and it can count toward EU long-term residence over time.
The salary threshold is reviewed annually, so confirm the current figure before you commit. ACME can check your qualifications and offer against the Blue Card criteria and help you put together a clean application that holds up.
