The Single Permit is a combined work-and-residence authorisation for non-EU nationals who want to live and work in Malta.
The Single Permit merges two approvals into one document: the right to reside in Malta and the right to work for a specific employer. It is the standard route for third-country nationals taking up employment in Malta.
Because it links residence to a particular job, the application is normally driven by an employer and a concrete job offer. EU, EEA and Swiss nationals do not use this route, as they have free-movement rights and follow a separate registration process.
