Your employer files a sponsorship request with OCMA including the contract and your education documents, then you submit your documents at a Latvian embassy or consulate, and after approval you register as a taxpayer.
The employment residence permit is an employer-led process. The Latvian employer submits a sponsorship request to the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA), attaching the employment contract and your education or qualification documents, after the labour market test has been satisfied.
You then lodge your part of the application, typically at a Latvian diplomatic or consular mission abroad. Once OCMA issues the residence permit with employment rights, you register with the State Revenue Service as a taxpayer. Coordinating closely with your employer on timing and document accuracy is key, because the two halves of the application must line up.
