An eTA is valid for up to five years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. Most visitors are allowed to stay up to six months per entry.
Once approved, an eTA is electronically linked to your passport and stays valid for five years or until that passport expires, whichever happens sooner. During that period you can use it for multiple short trips.
Validity of the eTA is separate from how long you may stay. A border services officer decides the length of each stay at the port of entry, normally up to six months. If you don't receive a stamp in your passport, you can generally stay six months from your entry date or until your passport expires, whichever is first. The officer can also authorize a shorter or longer stay and will note the date you must leave by.
