Estonia's Digital Nomad Visa is a long-stay (D) visa — not a residence permit — that lets remote workers live in Estonia for up to a year while working for an employer or business registered outside Estonia. It does not count toward the immigration quota.
The Digital Nomad Visa is for location-independent remote workers, business owners or freelancers serving clients outside Estonia. It is important to note that it is a long-stay (D) visa rather than a residence permit, allowing a stay of up to a year, and it does not count toward the immigration quota.
To qualify you generally need a minimum income of EUR 4,500 gross per month over the preceding six months, work that is location-independent and done via telecommunications technology, an employer or business registered outside Estonia, and health insurance valid across the Schengen states with adequate coverage. Processing takes about 30 days, with a EUR 120 state fee for the long-stay (D) visa.
The income threshold and conditions can change, so confirm the current details on the official source before applying. Keep in mind this is also separate from e-Residency, which is only a digital ID and not an immigration route. If you work remotely and are considering Estonia as a base, ACME can check whether your situation fits the visa.
