Can I work part-time in Portugal while on a D4 student visa?

The D4 is primarily a residence visa for study, research, internships or volunteering, but Portuguese rules allow enrolled students to take limited employment alongside their studies. During the academic year this is typically capped at roughly 20 hours per week so that work does not displace your studies.

Outside term time, during official holiday periods, you may usually work full-time. Your studies must remain your main activity, and you must keep your enrolment and residence permit valid. Always confirm the current limits with AIMA and your institution before accepting a job, as conditions can change.
