
Yes. A permanent residence permit can lapse if you stay outside Norway for more than two continuous years, so long absences can cause you to lose it.
A permanent residence permit lets you live and work in Norway indefinitely and gives extra protection against expulsion, but it is not entirely unconditional. If you spend a long continuous period outside Norway, the permit can lapse.
As a general rule the permit is lost after more than two years of continuous residence abroad. If you plan extended travel, you may be able to apply to keep the permit, so contact UDI before leaving rather than after. Keeping the permit assumes you continue to meet the conditions and have not been removed from Norway.
