The subclass 858 is a permanent visa that lets you stay in Australia indefinitely. However, the right to travel internationally and return is separate from your right to remain.
You can travel to and from Australia for 5 years from the date the visa is granted. Once that 5-year travel facility expires, you can still live in Australia, but to re-enter the country as a permanent resident you must first apply for and be granted a Resident Return visa (subclass 155 or 157).
