You need at least Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 in English or French in all four abilities: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Language ability is a core requirement of the Start-Up Visa. You must take an approved language test and reach a minimum of CLB 5 in each of the four skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing, in either English or French.
The results must come from a test administered by an IRCC-approved agency. Even strong entrepreneurs are refused if their official test scores fall below CLB 5, so it is important to test early and confirm your scores meet the threshold before applying.
