You generally need a minimum of 60 months (5 years) of legal residence in Ireland on qualifying employment-permit stamps before you can apply.
Long Term Residency is for non-EEA nationals who have completed at least 60 months of legal residence in Ireland while holding employment permits (such as a General or Critical Skills Employment Permit) issued by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
The 60 months are counted from the stamps in your passport and the validity of your Irish Residence Permit (IRP) cards, not from the start and end dates printed on your employment permits. Any period where you did not hold a valid stamp or IRP card does not count toward the total.
