What happens to my permanent residence if my start-up business fails?

The Start-Up Visa assesses your business and commitment at the time of application. If you are granted permanent residence and the business later struggles or closes, that alone does not cause you to lose your status, provided your original application was made in good faith.

However, the application must be genuine: if IRCC finds the venture was set up mainly to gain status, or that the designated organization's support was not legitimate, the application can be refused or status can be challenged.
