Can I be self-employed or start a business on the India Young Professionals Scheme visa?

You can do most types of work on this visa, including self-employment, but the self-employment rules are restrictive. You must work from rented premises rather than premises you own, the equipment you use must be worth less than £5,000, and you cannot take on any employees.

You can also study, although some courses require an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate. You cannot work as a professional sportsperson, including as a coach, and you cannot claim most public funds (benefits).
