Yes, you can do short-term study of up to 6 months, but anything longer needs a Student or other study visa.
Short courses and short-term study lasting up to six months are allowed on an ETA, in line with the overall six-month visit limit.
For longer programmes, degree courses, or anything that requires you to stay beyond six months, you must apply for the appropriate study visa before you travel. The ETA also cannot be used to live in the UK through repeated or back-to-back visits.
