How long is a Norwegian skilled worker permit valid?

The length of a skilled worker permit depends on the type of position and your qualifications. Positions requiring vocational (upper secondary) training are commonly granted for up to one year at a time, while positions requiring a university or college degree can be granted for up to three years at a time.

The permit will not be granted for longer than your contract or passport allows. You can apply to renew before it expires as long as you still hold a qualifying job, and after enough qualifying time you may become eligible to apply for permanent residence.
