The core of a family application is proving the relationship and identity. You will need valid passports and evidence of your relationship, such as a marriage certificate, population registration, a joint rental contract or home purchase documents for cohabiting partners.

Where a maintenance requirement applies, include documents showing the household can support the family financially. For children, provide birth certificates, any sole-custody decision, and consent from a parent who remains abroad when one parent is not moving. The fee is SEK 1,500 for adults and SEK 750 for children, and most complete applications are decided within about two months.
